There is something wonderful about the combination of bananas and caramel, something unique that makes me feel addicted to this pie !
- You can decorate the pie also with whipped cream, piping on the cream in blobs (1 blob per banana slice) and sprinkling with cocoa powder one more time
- Don’t let the caramel become too hard because this will give you an unpleasant texture while consuming
Method :
Crush the biscuits finely (in food processor or in a plastic bag)
Add cold melted butter/margarine in biscuits bowl and mix well biscuits with butter (with hand or a wooden spoon)
Pour the base mixture into the pie tin and press it flat and even (will your hand or any cooking tool which is flat, you can use even the bottom of a water glass or whatever glass)
Set aside
Prepare the caramel : Melt 125 gram/margarine butter in a pan adding sugar
Heat over a low heat and stir until sugar dissolves
Once the mixture starts to foam, add in the condensed milk and bring to boil
Turn the heat down to simmer and continue to stir for about 3-4 minutes until you have a lovely almost thick caramel
Turn off the heat and allow to cool
Add the lukewarm caramel to the base and chill in fridge until set
After setting the pie, peel and cut the bananas in slices
Place the bananas in the pie’s surface and sprinkle cocoa powder
