5 Podcasts To Listen

5 Podcasts you’ll find on my phone and not to miss

(According to Julia)

In an attempt to mental cleanse, I often go back and forth to mindfulness apps, but I find it so hard to shush my brain and actually meditate. Somehow podcasts (although they do completely the opposite thing of a meditation), keep my mind away from the million things it usually goes to and I can focus on one thing and relax. I am new to the podcast game, with 2019 getting me completely hooked on them, but yes, I really like them! They are a great way to spend the time, learn about new things, fight boredom and make those work commutes seem so short.

An amazing “toy” for the curious mind! Is your mind curious too? Keep reading to learn the 5 most listened podcasts on my phone.

MyDomaine’s “Second Life”

This podcast represents a “series that spotlights successful women who have made major career changes – and fearlessly mastered the pivot”. Hosted by Hillary Kerr co-founder and chief innovation officer at MyDomaine’s parent company, Clique Brands, each episode stars a woman who has left an old career to start a new one, and actually make it big!

I love the inspiring stories of different women, who were courageous enough to make the jump, invest in their passions and become game changers in their field. If you are either considering making the jump, or are just like to learn about the journey of turning a side hustle into a business, look no further.

Women in tech

Women in Tech Podcast is hosted by WeAreLATech’s Espree Devora and features inspiring Women in Tech from Engineers, Female Founders, Investors, UX and UI Designers, Journalists all sharing their story how they got to where they are today. The purpose of the show is for every listener to walk away feeling ‘If She Can Do It So Can I’.

I am all about the empowerment note of this podcast! I also love their episode on Kikiliciouss! Listen to it here.

Curiosity daily

The ultimate podcast offering “a timely blend of cultural trends, life hacks, and development in science and technology”. It is a great way to learn about your mind and body, outer space and the depths of the sea, how history shaped the world into what it is today, and more.

I usually listen to it on my way to work and by now it feels like hosts Cody Gough and Ashley Hamer are my commute mates. A great way to start the day!

Science vs

A mix of fact checking, science and history blended together in a podcast series that breaks firmly held opinions. Hosted by Wendy Zukerman, it is the funniest time spent getting smarter. I love the variety of the stories and getting those facts correct!

Armchair Expert

Dax Shepard interviewing famous people and the occasional scholar or journalist, while sitting on an armchair. This is actually a guilty pleasure for me! I used to think the American actor was like his stupid characters, but I really like his way of thinking and the smoothness and “freedom” of the interviews. I have not listened to all the episodes though because I only go for the guests I know and cannot yet make myself say yes to the unknown names.
